And now we exhale
Did anyone else forget they were holding their breath? My untamed cry — in the waiting room at the chiropractor of all places— reminded me what else is held when we stop breathing together.
To exhale while our siblings are drumming and singing in the streets and atop the rubble.
To allow relief, however fleeting, to find its way home to you, to us.
The valleys of our bodies and of our sorrow are mirrored by our breath. Every inhale as an equal and opposite exhale. The same has been said of our joy and sorrow.
What will be asked of us next will require deep breathing. Wind in our lungs.
But for now we exhale.
We exhale to make room for the grief to course through us.
Tomorrow, we will work.
Today, we will exhale.
Introducing Wonder While We Wonder
I have good news for you if you want to hang out with me!
I am excited to introduce Wonder While We Wonder — two new connection offerings to the Our Medicine Paid Subscription
The Wanderings:
Each month, I will respond to questions related to connection to self, connection to others, connection to the planet, and connection to awe through a recorded podcast-style response. Questions might include things like:
How the F*ck do I make friends as a 32 year old?
Do the frogs love me back?
What shape is awe?
What types of universes exist in moss?
Why do I have to be the one to start the stupid club to make the stupid connection to build the stupid community resilience?
Where could I find my imagination?
You can submit your questions here with varying options for anonymity. You can also write in with connection wins or moments that I will share on your behalf.
The Gatherings:
The second offering is a monthly, virtual, live space (for 2 hours) where we will come together to foster connection with light facilitation. I solemnly swear to NEVER subject you to an ice breaker. I will rotate the time and date of The Gatherings to accomodate jobs, children, loud neighbors, timezones, etc.
By becoming a paid member of Our Medicine, you will have access to these two offerings. I am unendingly grateful for your support of this work.
Also also, Chunk of The Moon Creator’s Residency is now open for applicants. Chunk Of The Moon is an Indigenous & Queer-led residency based in Central Vermont. The home and studio are tucked away in two acres of forested land beside a babbling brook. This is a peaceful, easeful place for creators of all mediums to devote time and energy to their craft. Chunk Of The Moon centers culture-bearers who are devoted to a just world of care, connection, love, and imagination. You can apply here.
